Session Info
Location and Home sessions
You will need to decide whether you would like to have a home session or a location session. We prefer to have newborn sessions at home and family shoots on location. Best light for location sessions is an overcast day or sunset. I have a selection of beautiful locations locally or you can suggest your favourite place.*
Home sessions can be scheduled as a lifestyle session or with use of the backdrops and props, we like to use black and some great vintage patterned backdrops for our sessions.
What to wear
For children think layers, textures and colours. Try to bring accessories like hats, scarves, tutus, belts, shoes & blankets with texture for newborns. If your child or any member of your family is into any activities or hobbies or you have some special meaningful objects bring those as well to incorporate into the shoot.
For newborn & baby (0-12mths) birth suit is the best, as they do not look good in grown up clothes, an all-in-one is good, do not forget nappy covers or bloomers. Lose socks and shoes to show off those adorable wrinkled feet & toes and chunky legs & hands.
Favourite blanket & teddy bear. If you choose to have a black backdrop for a newborn photosession mum and dad should have something black to wear.
For child sessions colour works well! If you are uncertain what your little one should wear just bring their favourite outfits, dresses, tutus, wellies, cowboyboots etc?!.
Trendy for teens
For family sessions it is great to look uniformed but you do not have to have matching outfits, although it is best if they are colour co-ordinated (for example if mum wears a blue, white & red outfit, dad could wear blue, son something red and daughter white etc.) Of course wear what you feel is comfortable and whatever best represents your family!
